The Chaipattana Aerator's Debut in Belgium
In 2000, the Belgian Chamber of Inventors invited over 100 countries throughout the world to submit their inventions for the Brussels Eureka 2000: 49th World Exhibition of Innovation, Research, and Technology, held in Brussels. The Chaipattana Foundation sent the Chaipattana Low Speed Surface Aerator or the Chaipattana Aerator, an invention of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Honourary President of the Foundation, to the Exhibition.
On this occasion, the International Committee and the National Committee presented trophies, medals, and certificates to His Majesty the King for his innovative invention of the Chaipattana Aerator which is a simple and cost-saving technology, widely applicable for improving water quality and actually reducing environmentally-related problems.
The various awards His Majesty received for the invention consist of: the Minister J. CHABERT Cup awarded for the outstanding invention work; Grand Prix International Cup awarded for the most outstanding invention; Medal of Prix OMPI Femme Inventeur Brussels EUREKA 2000 together with a certificate awarded for the world's outstanding invention which is presented to the winning inventor; the Yugoslavia Cup praising His Majesty's ingenuity; and Gold Medal with Mention and a certificate praising His Majesty's efficient application of technology.

The Chaipattana Aerator Forms a Bond
Later, Mr. Jose Loriaux, Chairman of the Belgian Chamber of Inventors, sought His Majesty the King's consideration for having the Chaipattana Aerator installed in Brussels, to honour and publicize the sagacity of His Majesty the King, as well as Thailand, worldwide.
Consequently on 20 September 2001, His Majesty, as Honourary President of the Chaipattana Foundation, graciously granted the Chaipattana Aerator upon the request of Mr. Loriaux. The aerator will be transferred to Mr. Frangois-Xavier DE DONNEA, Minister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region's Government for installation in Petit Etang Mellaerts pond at Woluwe Saint-Pierre Park, Brussels.
On Friday, 27 September 2002, His Majesty kindly granted an occasion for Mr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Member and Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, to bring Mr. Pierre Vaesen, Belgian Ambassador to Thailand, for an audience to receive a model of the Chaipattana Aerator at Klaikangvol Palace, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
